Dear Homeowner,

The board was sued for refusing to allow homeowner to access to basic financial information.  The condominium act is clear that owners are entitled to inspect association books and records without question.

Instead of complying as required by law, the board has hired an attorney for the association and for themselves.  We, as owners, are paying the bill.  The end result will probably be that the owner will be allowed to inspect the documents. The bad news is that the Illinois Condominium Property Act also requires that if the owner wins which he probably will, the association pays the owner’s bills as well.   Great, we get to pay that bill also.

What a waste of money. Why is the board spending our money for an unnecessary fight? Why are we paying their individual legal bills?  What is the board trying to hide?
