Dear Owner,

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of the 2301 Beau Monde Lane elevator, which clanked its last chain and sighed its last final ding at the ripe old age of 60 years.  Born around 1965, it served faithfully for decades; lifting groceries, spirits and occasionally questionable furniture.

The association attorney lamented that now the County has the option to condemn the building and force everyone to move out until it is replaced.  This is a life/safety issue, especially for older and physically challenged residents.

The elevator is survived by 6  flights of stairs which are already plotting to kill us.  Residents have been weeping just looking up at the stairwells. Condolences should be sent to all landlords as tenants may be required to move out and re-renting a ‘walk up’ unit will be extremely difficult.

Even if the replacement contract is signed today, the work may take up to 6 months to finish; including permits, ordering the equipment, scheduling, etc.

There are two other elevators that can go at any time. What is the plan and where is the money for this project?  Is this going to be a special assessment?  All owners, including those in the 2 story will have to pay.
